April 2021 – Preparations for the new season….

So we have been at Ceannabeinne for the last week or so doing all sorts of odds jobs which desperately needed doing. Covid has been hard on everyone, and not only on us for being unable to have guests stay but just being able to get the cottage do maintenance.
So having not visited since last August and hung on as long as we could, we had to come, as we know that we will be able to have Scots visitors stay from 26th April and we hope the rest of the UK shortly after that and had to get the place ready.

So while we’ve been here, we’ve been painting the main bedroom, cleaning and polishing the main rooms wooden floor, popped a few slates back in place the winter weather had dislodged, had a lovely new stove fitted which is amazingly good as producing a lot of heat on a very small amount of wood.

The weather has mostly been terrific. Cold but dry apart from two amazing days where it rained solidly for 48 hours. We ended up with pools in places we’d never seen them before and the sea, which is currently going through it’s cycle of very high and very low ties, was whipped up to a frenzy!

Storm on Tuesday 30th March 2021

Even if the weather is really rough and unpleasant, it’s always amazing to watch and I’m easily distracted during my cleaning tasks by just watching the goings on outside with the tide going up and down in its in endless repetition.

We have also had some really low tides too, which of course mean you can reach the secret beach….

Ceannabeinne beach looking amazing

I hope we can gets some pictures of that beach over the weekend. We have three days left, but worryingly they are forecasting snow!!!! So the trip back to Kent might be fun!

With the Summer drawing to a close, we would like to say a big thank you to all those who have stayed with us throughout this year.

2017 is a special year for us, as it will mark the 30th anniversary of Norsehaven.

During all those years we have welcomed many guests and have made lasting friendships, which are so important to us. Some guests have been so faithful as to visit us every year, and they will know who they are!

We are also blessed with three wonderful housekeepers, without whom we could not run the business.

We look forward to welcoming you all again, and at this time of the year may I remind you of our special seasonal offers.

New Website
Some of you may have noticed our new website. After many years of faithful service, our old website needed a revamp. The main reason for doing so is to better enable bookings via mobile phones and Ipads, as so many people now book this way. We hope you like the new style.
The new website now has a Blog page on which we will be making regular posts about news, local features and any special offers.
Good House Keeping Deposits
We have kept our existing fuel/damage deposit at the same levels for nearly 20 years. During this time, costs have risen as have instances of damage to fixtures and fittings. To reflect this, our new fuel/damage deposit will be £150 per week. (Please note any existing bookings will still be at the old rate). Our existing £30 per week pet surcharge will remain unchanged.
We hope that those of you with a holiday booked with us are looking forward to a well earned break! We still have some Summer weeks available in all cottages for those not yet booked.
Very best wishes

A brand new website

We’re very pleased to be able to finally have up our brand new website which we hope all our regular users and holidaymakers will find useful and just as quick to book on as our old one.

It’s mobile and iPad friendly, should be easier to navigate and we’ve updated a few links and details too.

We look forward to welcoming you to the cottages for the summer season and if you want to be kept updated with info please check back regularly!
