Welcome to Norsehaven Cottages
Take a voyage north to the rugged, breathtaking scenery of Sutherland in the far north west of Scotland. This is Mackay country and the numerous cairns, brochs and ruined settlements in the area are testament to its long and turbulent history. Norsemen would steer their long ships around Cape Wrath on the way to Ireland, and sometimes come ashore at Durness or Kinlochbervie. And it was the Vikings who gave Sutherland its name.
True to their Norse ancestry, the original settlers, love to pass on stories and there is hardly a hill, loch or bay, in the area that does not boast its own ghost or legend.
Although so far we have not met any of these spectral residents, we have witnessed the breathtaking Northern Lights, and joined with locals in watching whales play in the waters beneath the cliffs. Perhaps you too could be lucky if you come and visit us, stay in our beautiful and historic cottages in the villages of Durness and Kinlochbervie….
Norsehaven offers four beautiful holiday cottages, two in the village of Durness, one on the cliff tops just outside the village and one on the shore of Loch Inchard near the village of Kinlochbervie.
Each cottage has been sympathetically restored using local craftsmen and materials to our own exacting standards, so as to maintain the original features and style of traditional Scottish dwellings. But, however traditional they may be, all of them have the mod cons our guests expect in the 21st century.
All the cottages are fitted out to a very high specification. Plenty of cutlery and crockery, bakeware and cookware and a dishwasher in each so no one has to wash up on holiday!
All the beds have luxurious pocket sprung mattresses and luxury duvets with doubles on the singles, king size on the doubles and superking on the king sized, and, along with our deep fill pillows, you’ll always be snug and warm in bed. We also provide towels, bathmats and kitchen linen too.
Lounges have comfy sofas and chairs with blankets for curling up in front of our multi fuel fires. Freesat for the TV or bring your own special DVD’s for that cosy evening in.
On beautiful days sit outside in peace and solitude and enjoy the views from the garden of Corrachbeag over the sea loch, Loch Inchard. Or wake up to the romantic sound of the waves on the beach at Ceannabeinne. One of the finest views in Scotland.
We know that your dog is a part of your family, and well-behaved ones are always welcome, and we are also very family orientated with high chairs and cots provided free. Craigmor and Cranstackie are the perfect family cottages, with room for 12 people if you book both.
We know your holiday is precious and we take pride in every booking being dealt with personally by the owner, Richard Norman. He is always on hand with his housekeeping staff to ensure your stay in a Norsehaven cottage will be the best holiday experience you can have.
You can book online with your holiday dates confirmed immediately and then look forward to an amazing stay in Scotland, on the stunning west coast of Sutherland.
